Από φίλη στο facebook στην σελίδα Europeans standing by Greeks!

If you need translation I will be glad to do so.. I think you must take some time to reflect on his words, being a group which supports the greek people I think this article will answer many of your questions

  • Jenny Sohst I find it difficult to believe that you seriously agree with this speech.
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard And while calling on others to reflect upon the words of Antonis Samaras, not any response to this article.

  • Brigitta Papadimitriou 'Samaras retort, that unlike Papandreou in opposition, he has never encouraged people to take to the streets. Indeed, he says, his party is 'all for' for cutting public waste and has also agreed to a raft of structural reforms including a privatisation drive that is projected to raise 50bn euro by 2015'
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard 50 bn Euros is not correct. "Since its first bailout loan in May 2010, Greece has consistently failed to meet its privatization targets and has repeatedly scaled back an earlier goal of raising €50 billion from asset sales by the end of the decade. It is now aiming to raise €11.1 billion in privatization proceeds by the end of 2016"

  • Bel Jaimen It 's a group that supports Greek people, I mean, against the political mafia that has brought ruin .. but with different opinions of how to get out of the crisis. I think you aren't in the appropriate group for your mentality pro-IMF and pro- German (UE) ..... simply .... must accept that most of the Greeks 70% don't like Samaras, not voted for him ... just a Greek electoral law surreal and unfair (50 extra seats),absolutely unthinkable in a country normal given control to ND-PASOK (the same thing)....
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard - and from failing to meet the targets of the privatization programme, the revenue has to be found from other sources according to the memorandum. These sources might me an increased property tax or more public servants layed off.
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard To cut public waste is something noone would disagree on - and still no answers to the Guardian article quoting Antonis Samaras speaking against austerity and taxation.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou Bel Jaimen with due respect greek people vote greek politicians do you have any other suggestion? let's maybe vote each other!!!!
  • Richard Blewett A good question might be ... "How valid were the elections" and "How many votes were bought" ... maybe that's why the same 'families' have retained power for so long!
... and, "who did the 'trees' vote for"?
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard According to Pew Institute, the percentage of greeks acclaiming their leaders handling of the crisis decreased from 32 in 2012 to 22 in 2013.
  • Bel Jaimen Brigitta Papadimitriou that is not the case, seem you very angry because this forum doesn't love Samaras, I just remember you that most of the Greeks either love
... don't be angry ... I'm Spanish, I see the disaster in Portugal .. Misery !!!! ... Know the history of South America , read in Spanish the atrocities of the IMF and the politics (same as now applied in Greece) , I can read and see as in Argentina were stolen, looted, remember the images of malnourished children ... remember the Mexico disaster, famine in Bolivia, all this after the IMF .... but don't worry, I will try to document you , how even the UN, blamed to IMF the famine in Africa ..
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou This is a very good question Richard Blewett. The huge public sector, has been created by the favours politicians and voters exchanged, Samaras dared to cut down public sector jobs eg. ERT suffering the 'political cost'.
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard Furthermore, the structural reforms were proposed by the government that was supported by both PASOK and Democratic Left - and as well could be used as an argument for supporting these parties.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou Bel Jaimen I am not angry at all!!! I detest rudeness and respect any different opinion, nobody is forced to like or hate Samaras or any other politician for that matter, From the moment we went into IMF (nothing to do with Samaras) the disaster started I agree with you there.
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard - and when using the Guardian article for reference, don't forget that "Despite appeals from both in and outside Greece New Democracy under the leadership of Antonis Samaras voted against a €28bn package of further spending cuts".
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou Mads Henrik Højgaard good point , but, with Pasok we have seen a lot of corruption and to be correct since 1981 the country started its way down.. I would feel more at peace if Samaras had the autonomy to govern by himself!!!
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard Nothing about PASOK, but about New Democracy actually resisting spending cuts.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou New Democracy has to deal with all the problems inherrited by the previous governments of Pasok, I remind you SImitis and his friends and then G Papandreou and his overnight signature and the big happy announcement in Kastellorizo.
  • Richard Blewett Brigitta Papadimitriou - ERT was, to say the least, a bombshell, and more than a trifle politically inept in my opinion - but an alternative view is that it was politically 'savvy'. I know that many Greeks saw/see ERT as a wasteful entity, but the way the closure was handled AND the effective 'cutting off' news and information in the outlying areas was little more than dictatorial. I suspect it was actually a knee-jerk reaction to the Gazprom collapse that eventually resulted in a lot of back-pedalling by Samaras AND never a hint of 'sorry I got it wrong' .... that episode certainly didn't endear me to Samaras, indeed, quite the opposite.
  • Bel Jaimen For me, in any case is more resposable PASOK .... but hurts, the deceit, nobody gets out of the slavery of debt, all countries that went bankrupt rose up, but none of slavery, there is always more debt, don't want to lift the economy .. only sink ... then GDP growing debt, the loans are to cover other, the end 60% of the country's economy will be the debt ... is a infernal spiral ...
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard New Democracy was in government from 2004-2009 and Antonis Samaras a member of government several times back from 1989.
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard And New Democracy and Antonis Samaras still refused spending cuts while in opposition. Facts please.
  • Richard Blewett ERT again ... More than that, the dealings in DIGEA - the allocation of frequencies and the excessive commercial interests of some 'less than savoury characters' eg. Bobolas are hardly a cause for seeing the Samaras government as any different from those that came before. The same 'purchases' are still happening!
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou It is very important to see how we got here, I say it is due to all the previous governments , big, huge mistakes!!! Antonis Samaras was excluded and was forced in political silence for many many years. Take a look at all the big scandals, in which other period you could see an important Minister like Tsohatzopoulos in gail. Nobody got punished for Stock Market scandal, again Pasok was in power. Now Samaras tries to work towards growth with what? A Troika always present , people who by loosing their long comfort are of course protesting and on the other Tsipras to offer everything to the people !!! Tell me would any of you like to be in his shoes?
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard "The austerity measures aren't working; the sacrifices that are being made aren't paying off. The treatment is simply so strong that there is a risk we will kill the economy before we kill the deficit." These were the words of Antonis Samaras in opposition shortly before being Prime Minister. More bending than standing. More opportunism than leadership. And no explanation of the shift of standards offered from the supporters of Antonis Samaras.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou Mads Henrik Højgaard I will get these facts for you but I am really tired at the moment, surely you understand that... I am fighting (lol) with you all day !!!!
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard Nothing about Tsohatzopoulos, nothing about Simitis, nothing about Tsipras or anyone else - but about Antonis Samaras and his decisions and his words. Do not try to divert focus.
  • Richard Blewett Brigitta Papadimitriou - If you can convince me that Samaras is actively fighting the root cause of the problems - ie. corruption, AND taking steps to remove/reform the ridiculous immunity enshrined in Article 86 of the constitution, I might take a more favourable view of his standing. .. At the moment, I see no evidence of that, other than an attack on an easy target - namely ERT.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou ok let Mads Henrik Højgaard let me try and give you a short not in detail explanation and there is always tomorrow to give you more information. If you go back at the time you might remember the dilemma the greek people faced, not because of Samaras but was put by our lenders... either signature or out of Euro, we had elections twice, Tsipras was promising to throw agay the memorandum Samaras said we have to negotiate, so people voted for Samaras and not Tsipras!!! and to answer your comment do you really believe that any politician would impose austerity measures because he has a vice to do so? When we say we need to change and to progress we need to brake eggs in order to make an omelet!!!! There are sacrifices for each one of us!!!!
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou Richard Blewett with pleasure I will do it tomorrow and I will give you my reasons why ERT was not an easy target!!!!
  • Richard Blewett Ok, I can't argue with that ...
  • Richard Blewett As for 'what went before' We need more facts here! Personally, I can't comment on how (or when) Samaras was involved in previous administrations (and the double dealing that went on) ... but I know someone who can ... I shall consult
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard "The austerity measures aren't working; the sacrifices that are being made aren't paying off. The treatment is simply so strong that there is a risk we will kill the economy before we kill the deficit." To bend by the pressure from outside when you boast yourself as a leader standing upright and to impose and to argue in favor of exactly what you opposed the day before is not making an omelette, but throwing the food out for garbage.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou Mads Henrik Højgaard Believe me I don't try to divert focus, but Samaras is in power just one year what happened before what happens now it is all relevant!!! I support Samaras and I don't want talk about him all the time ...in order to see the reality and then decide whether I have apoint you have to let me explain my view on the long process which brought us here... I insist on that because is important!!!!
  • Bel Jaimen all do the same. How do you think won Rajoy in Spain? has not fulfilled his programa election !!nothing!! .. the Portuguese and the Irish PM, promised that would not have austerity .... when they came to government, benefit four years to do the same who criticized ... are as Mursi, abusers who are the first (if not the most social) ... But do not say we have a gun to my head .. no, say the ERT are red, doctors are vague, teachers are not efficient, etc ... or any things and blame the population ... they fired, but his friends never leave administration ... This is the same everywhere ... Here in Spain have compared the anti evictions peaceful movement (with international award of the European Parliament) with the Nazis .. We have even heard of the ruling party leader that "our militants stop eating before not pay a mortgage" .. and thousands of examples ... of atrocities, not to recognize that they are forced to do what they do.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou He was right Mads Henrik Højgaard the austerity measures aren't working, that is why he insists on growth and development and privatisation,
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard This is about Antonis Samaras. Introducing a group in support of Antonis Samaras was starting this thread in the first place, and this is why we are talking about this. There have been every opportunity to explain and to support with any facts and any point, and nothing but scapegoating and personal likes and dislikes has been presented.
  • Richard Blewett As I said ... more facts are needed .... I am willingly to wait until tomorrow
  • Mads Henrik Højgaard What is in question is the change of views and the lack of consistency in the words of Antonis Samaras. The fact that he is arguing in favor of one view and then acting all opposite. The fact that a group of people are supporting him and hailing him as the Leader of a New Greece and not is willing or able to explain or defend his change of words and politics overnight.
  • Richard Blewett However, if we apply 'tomorrow' to the statement "he insists on growth and development and privatisation," ... it will be too late, the patient will have died! .. Positive moves are needed NOW to lift the austerity programme AND to redirect the loan funding into the REAL economy. ...if for no other reason than to prevent more suicides caused by abject despair.
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou refuse to spending cuts while in opposition? is this your question Mads Henrik Højgaard? I promised Richard to give some views tomorrow I will do that for you too, but I REPEAT forget about supporting any group I did not ask you to, I really gave a lot of explanation but I will focus to the point I think you are interested in. thank you all for the nice convesation , a surpise for me, no attacks no rudeness !!!! let's keep it like this
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou I see what you mean Mads Henrik Højgaard . I will try and give you my answer tomorrow
  • Richard Blewett Political fatigue has set-in - lol, I'm off to bed ... Καληνύχτα σε όλους
  • Brigitta Papadimitriou If this is a genuine interest from you I am really glad to have a lengthy conversation tomorrow, using facts and facts alone,!!!!
  • Nick Vandoros the man is an idiot plain and simple cause if what he is saying is true Mr Bravo Roula Simon Kahikoglou or what ever his name is would have been thrown out of the Govt by "Mr" Samaras for giving jobs to his people only a few mths before shutting down ERT which cost Greece close to €85,000 a mth the truth is that he had to find something that the people (sorry did I say people I meant sheep) would be happy to see it closed cause they saw that they were paying for it and it had to be FIXED and would give him the chance to say look I've taken the bull by the horns look at me I'm not afraid of the old system if his not afraid then why put Kapsis in charge why not put Nikos Bogiopoulo . Again how can anyone believe the person who said I WONT RETURN TO ND EVEN IF THEY MAKE ME LEADER or believes YOU CAN WIPE OUT DEBT BY BORROWING MORE MONEY
  • Lavender Connolly This man acts without looking at the repercussions that can arise. How nice it would be if it was him personally that will face and have to pay for the liabilities that are coming from the different sporting organisations that are preparing for massive lawsuits .I guess that money will come from the countries coffers and who fills those coffers ,the working people do.
  • Nick Vandoros Lavender Connolly you have it all wrong he knows very well what the repercussions will be that's the beauty of the system they get you to believe that what they are doing they are doing out of ignorance when what they are really doing is following their plan to the letter.
  • David Miller yea right Lavender Connolly
  • Catherine Zs Brigitta Papadimitriou - with all due respect, are you here to gain votes fo Mr Samaras? This isn't a group to raise votes for any political party but to gain solidarity for the struggle Greeks are experiencing.
  • Konstantinos Grekiotis Dear Brigitta unfortunately you can not convince us for the "good - fellow" called Samaras. He is already CONDEMNED in the conscience of the GREEK PEOPLE and we can not accept his own propaganda. You can see this in every corner of Greece. Is better for him to give his place in someone else even in his own party.
